Brainwave Headset: A breakthrough in technology

Have you ever heard about a headset that can read brainwaves? If you ask me, then my answer would be yes. It was Tan Le who gave the talk about this headset in Ted.com. It shows how human ingenuity and technology, when used with the right intentions, can change the course of how we live our lives. It truly can benefit us in so many ways that we can imagine, literally. This headset detects the brainwaves of which we are imagining or thinking then displays what is in our brain through a special software designed just for it. When, for example, we think of an object to disappear, it would only take a few seconds for it to register your brainwaves and another few seconds to visualize it on the screen. The uses of this headset seem to be limitless when it comes to make our lives as humans better. It could be used for social interaction with other people even if we are not with them. We could control various objects that seem impossible to control. This headset proved that anything is possible, as long as you are willing to struggle to make it a reality. There are, however, some limitations to this device. Since every brain is different from each other (like a fingerprint) you would have to "teach" the device every command that your mind has which is very hard and can take a longer period of time to accomplish. This is the only limitation that I can think of because this device is so cool I just want to talk about their strengths. It's counterpart, of which I do not know the name, is like a piece of hairnet with some kind of gel that costs thousands of dollars just to put on. Unlike that hairnet with nodes, the headset only costs some hundred dollars. It still is expensive but at least it's better than the thousand dollar hairnet. Who would spend a thousand dollars for a hairnet?! That is just plain silly.

Now I would like to talk about how it works (at least to my understanding of when I watched the video). The brain is part of the Central Nervous System which sends impulses to the body which the body does in a short period of time. The brain is made up of different neurons which sends electrical impulses to signal what part of the body does what. The algorithms in the neuron are brainwaves which the headset receives. The process is then completed when the device finishes analyzing the algorithms and displays the result on screen.

This headset can help different people in different fields depending on how they will use it. The device can help cripple people move around when they are in a wheelchair. They just have to install the software in the wheelchair (I don't know how will they do it) then the headset takes care of the rest. It can help Computer and Web designers easily design programs and web pages and maybe even more beautiful. Even new neurologists can benefit from this breakthrough in technology. They can study how brainwaves behave and how the device picks these brainwaves up (That is why I put new their because I know that experienced neurologists already know these things). All I'm saying is that anybody can use this for any reason at all.

With all my opinions pointed out for this device, I am sure that future technologies can really benefit us all.

*A thousand dollar hairnet...hehehe...I'm sorry...its just a funny subject...Sorry again*
