Hawaii Five-O is a remake of the 1970's crime drama that features a new federal task force who takes on every crime that the Islands of Hawaii can bring to them. It is starred by Alex O'Loughlin who plays Detective Steve McGarrett, a decorated Naval Officer who joined the police force, and Scott Caan who plays Detective Danny "Danno" Williams, a relocated police man from New Jersey who protects Hawaii for his 8 year old daughter, and Daniel Dae Kim acting as Chin Ho Kelly, an ex-Honolulu police agent wrongly accused for corruption. Joining them is Grace Park playing Chin's cousin Kono. Detective Steve McGarrett is on a vendetta to find his father's killer with the help of the new Five-0 unit. The bad guys in the Islands of Hawaii better not keep their guard down, because Hawaii Five-0 is going to take them down.
On September 13, 2010 Hawaii Five-0 had its official world premiere at Sunset on the Queen's Surf Beach in Waikiki. The premiere was free and open to the public. Members of the cast were in attendance, as were local celebrities including Hawaii governor Linda Lingle, Mayor of Honolulu Kirk Caldwell, and former Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hanneman.The pilot episode was aired last November 14, 2010 (9:00 PM) in the Philippines. The story starts Steve McGarrett goes home to Honolulu after his father was murdered by Victor. The governor of Honolulu, Governor Pat Jameson, gives McGarrett the opportunity to head a new elite police task force and all authority to stop all the crimes in every way possible. He turns down the job at first but when he meets his old friend Chin Ho Kelly and eventually he takes the job. McGarrett goes back to his father's house and investigates the garage and opens the tool box with a champ sticker on it. He does so because of his father's words to him: "Listen to me, Champ". McGarrett hears a noise and draws his gun, finding Williams also with his gun drawn and tells each other to drop his weapon. They ask each other to draw his badge before they drop their gun. The story now begins.
Hawaii Five-0's executive producers are Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. They've teamed with Peter Lenkov. Lenkov wrote the pilot especially in the opening expository scenes. It is directed by Len Wiseman who also directed Underworld and Live Free or Die Hard.
Hawaii Five-0 has an IGN rating of 8 (Impressive).
